A drinking
game played with cards where you bet a certain amount of
drink on the next card to be turned over.
Each
player is dealt 2 cards face down. Taking it in turns, each player
turns their cards over. The player bets a certain quantity
of drink (a number of fingers) on whether they think the
next card turned over from the pack will have a value
between the two cards they have in front of
them.
If the card
turned over has a value outside the two
cards then the player wins the bet and can
nominate another player
drink the stake that was bet.
If the card
turned over has a value between the two cards then
the player loses the bet and drinks the stake
bet.
If the card
turned over is equal to either of the two cards then
the player must drink double the stake bet. This is
called "Hitting the posts".
Cards are
left turned up on the table until everyone has had one turn
each. The whole deck is then re-shuffled.
Aces are low
in this game.
A player turns
over a 4 and a 7. He bets four fingers.
If, say, a Jack is turned over, the player
nominates someone else to drink four fingers. If, say, a
5 is turned over, the player must drink four fingers
himself. If either a 4 or 7 is turned over,
then he must drink eight fingers.
